It was an ordinary cold Tuesday evening until the screen went dark. The message "You do not have permission" became the only reply to every attempt to enter the holy of holies of Vomitboy — our Discord server.

CHRONICLE OF THE CATASTROPHE

Within two hours we were losing hundreds of GB of accumulated content, rare art and chat logs. The cause was an attack on one of the moderator accounts, which led to destructive actions in a matter of minutes.

But the important part is not that we lost the server — it is how quickly we managed to mobilize. Within a day a new hub was created, and 90% of the active core of the community was back in action.

This incident taught us one important thing: data is temporary, the collective is eternal.
